It can be used with different chipsets and audio controllers. But just so you know, Realtek ALC audio is a simply a Codec. Maybe just keep the xonar until you get the mobo, test it out make sure it works and if it does sell the xonar then? Its not like you are buying a 300 audio card. i also have the logitech z-5500 which may make a difference. and i ahve gotten 5.1 in games using my onboard raeltek sound on my ds3l gigabyte mobo fine for the one day i didn't have an xfi in it (one died, waited for a new one to come) using optical because i was too lazy to plug in three analog cables. What really? that's the point of optical though, it sends the raw feed to the speakers to do all the work unless you tell it to do the encoding otherwise (with my xfi anyways, not entirely sure how the realtek's do it). If you want surround out you need to use the 3pin 3.5mm Jack cables. It runs fine, but in games I never get surround out through the speakers. I have my onboard encoding to DTS on the way through. Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) with 97dB Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR). You would be much better off sticking with your Xonar which will do the encoding properly. Audible interference and poor low-end response seem to be the most common complaints. Implementation for these onboard audio chips does seem to vary a lot. As their anti-alias filtering also has some limitations, 96 kHz is probably the best choice overall. With recent review of the Creative Soundblaster E5 (which is a very good unit in its own right), I was pleased to put both the E5 and the ASRocks X99X Purit. The D/A side is fine, but the ADC suffers from compromised dynamic range and other signs of high jitter. Speaking of clock generation, my experience with Realtek chips (whether ALC269 or ALC898) has been that you better stay away from 44.1 kHz and multiples on the recording side. ADCs need clean clocks far more urgently than DACs, which have some tricks up their sleeve that help reduce the effect of jitter dramatically.

And I Want to bet alot of it can be fixed with an EQĬlick to expand.Mind you, there clearly is something very b0rked in the clock generation of this UR242 for whatever reason. Sure its noticeable but not a big amount. I somewhat attributed it to my Xonar DG sound card with DAC and AMP built in not being up to scratch but lets be real that really isn't the case as my built in Onboard Asus Crystal Sound 2 audio is only a small downgrade from the Xonar DG card. Look how I got a HD 58x and the difference between the jubilee and my old HD 555 is small.
